Twitter did its job and now it’s Reddit’s turn. Reddit is testing NFT profile pictures and preparations are ongoing.
Reddit is in the testing phase of a nonfungible token (NFT) profile pictures on its platform. This comes one week after Twitter did the same thing.
In 2021 Reddit had around 430 million monthly users and with the help of the new feature, users will be able to set their profile picture to any NFT with an attached image.
Tim Rathschmidt , Reddit spokesperson in an interview with TechCrunch on Thursday stated: “We’re always exploring ways to provide value for users and communities on Reddit. At the moment we’re testing the ability to use NFTs as profile pictures (avatars) and verify ownership. It’s a small, internal test and no decisions have been made about expanding or rolling out the capability”
The tests are in an advanced stage, with an app developer posting a banner from Reddit promoting the feature.
